Mind and body
I began myofascial treatments in the hope of ridding myself of chronic low back
pain and sciatica that I had been enduring for over 20 years. I was totally
unprepared for the unique therapy Joe Miller provided. Under his guidance I
have come to realize that in order to feel better, both the mind and the body
must be engaged and willing to change. Joe has helped me to see the unconscious
agenda I had accepted that made me mentally reluctant to let go of my pain. My
attitude towards my body in general, and this problem in particular, have
changed dramatically. The Myofascial treatments have brought about physical
changes that have allowed my body to find a better equilibrium, resulting in
less stress and less pain in my everyday activities. I feel better in both mind
and body and I look forward to continuing this improvement.

A partner in healing
I think Joe has eyes in his fingertips because he seems to know intuitively
where the restrictions are. I like how he invites me to work as a partner in
releasing tension.
The stiffness, pain, and tiredness of fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome
had been getting worse during several years of illness and injury. Eventually,
I could not garden, work at a computer, or ride my horse comfortably.
After just one MFR session, the restrictions eased noticeably. After several
sessions, plus other remedies, I feel I am on the road to resuming normal
activities—for example, I am so much more supple and balanced in the saddle
that neither the horse nor I heave a sigh of relief when I dismount.

Trauma relief
I came to Joe for relief of chronic neck and shoulder pain. I had tried many
things for help: I tried physical therapy under the treatment of a physiologist
only to have the pain return after treatment ended. I tried massage therapy
that allowed temporary relief of symptoms that always returned, sometimes
within the week.
It was only after Joe treated my son that I thought Myofascial release could
help me. It was very clear from our first meeting that this was going to be a
different experience. Joe spent a lot of time listening with intensity and
understanding of my personal trauma that I have never before experienced from
any other human being – practitioner or lay person. The way he explained with
utmost clarity how the trauma was unfinished and remained in my body causing
the pain was totally fascinating to me and nothing anyone had ever thought of
to try to help. While he made no promises, it all totally made sense. The depth
of his knowledge and the totally informed answers were incredibly reassuring to
me. He not only thoroughly knew his craft, but his extensive knowledge of the
systems of the human body was incredible.
After the first session with Joe I experienced physical as well as emotional
release for the next two days. Lucky for me, Joe was available by phone to help
me through this time. . . . I find his level of commitment to the patient’s
healing overwhelmingly sincere and altruistic. He is totally and selflessly
motivated to helping his patients.
In a mere matter of a month, my chronic neck and shoulder pain that had been
interrupting my daily life for over 9 years was completely gone. It was so
astounding to me that he could accomplish quite clearly and simply what the
western medical community could not. That he could figure out the root cause of
the pain and work seemingly with little effort at understanding it and helping
me work through it is nothing short of amazing.

Thanks to Joe for helping my first born!
My 9-year-old son was born with a birth defect that required multiple
corrective surgeries, ongoing medical treatment and a steady flow of
pharmaceuticals to maintain health. I brought him to Dr. Gore’s office [where
Joe used to work] to see how the multitude of specialists might be able to improve
his health and his life situation. . . . Joe was charged with the task of
helping my son work through the trauma of over 14 surgeries and promoting good
health and well-being. A large task indeed!
My son has received excellent medical care from specialists in western
medicine, for which I am truly grateful. . . . However, I believed that he
needed more than the medical community could offer him. For instance, after an
occurrence when my son was in extreme pain, his specialist told me there was no
way to relieve the pain if it should occur again. This was not an acceptable
answer for me as would be true of any mother watching her child scream in pain.
The solutions for his rare medical condition were limited at best. . . . I
just knew there had to be better answers then I was getting from these highly
trained specialists.
Joe had incredible empathy and an innate understanding of my son and his
circumstances. Joe spoke to my son in such an incredibly respectful and
understanding way and instantly made my son at ease and completely comfortable
with this new and somewhat unorthodox procedure. While my son never complained
about all the medical procedures he had to endure, there was something special
about coming to see Joe. My son actually gave a holler of joy every time I told
him we were going. Not only did Joe respect him and everything he had to say,
he actually looked him straight in the eyes and told him how incredibly he was
handling his unique physical situation. He even told him how special he was to
have been given this challenge. What an amazing gift of words for a 9-year-old
boy and how fortunate I am as a mother to be able to give that gift to my son.
The way Joe interacted with my son helped me to see my own son in a new way,
with a new light shining on him and his situation. Joe has given us the
incredible gift of health, well-being, suppor,t and incredible words. I feel by
bringing my son to Joe that I am giving my son a gift of new ways to think of
himself, new ways to live a full and healthy life, and a new friend that
understands and respects him.
. . . Joe has an incredibly special way of relating to [my son] that goes
far beyond the physical help of his hands and Myofascial release. It is like
getting a complete tune up every time we see Joe. My son and I always walk out
of there feeling emotionally rejuvenated, able to handle all that comes our
way, able to get on with our next tasks knowing that it is all going to be OK.
Thanks to Joe!

When modern medicine fails you
I just started seeing Joe for Myofacial Pain Syndrome. Ultimately, I couldn’t
relax a litany of knots that has taken up residence permanently in my back,
neck, and shoulders.
Chances are if you’re looking this up, modern medicine has failed you, and this
is where you will find relief. Go in ready to do the work, and you’ll find the
work will end up making you ready. I assumed this was a last resort thing, but
it ended up being the missing piece to so many of my physical ailments. So much
has clicked in my brain since going, and I’ve gone about four or five times
over the last few months.
Joe is a wonderful guide to show you how to approach life thoughtfully while
still remaining IN our body. He fundamentally changed how I approach life, and
I’m feeling more confident and secure than I have in so long.

Do yourself a favor!
Joe Miller is a true healer of the body and the mind! I truly cannot say what a
difference he has made, and continues to make, in my life. I have a chronic
condition and I also have had hip and hamstring surgeries with mixed results. I
have been through PT…this last time, I went for 50, yes, 50 sessions. I still
had awful pain in my hip joint and numbness in my hamstring with pain. I cannot
tell you how hopeless I have felt. When you also have a chronic illness,
doctors do not spend much time with you because they do not think you will ever
get better. They attribute everything to your illness. They give up on your
because they don’t think you can be “cured,” so they don’t try to
improve your quality of life. I was left in a state where every step was
painful and I was unable to do daily tasks, let alone any form of exercise. Then
I started seeing Joe.
Joe has an intuitive sense about him where he can truly feel where your body needs attention and help. He
listens and truly cares about making you feel better. He GETS EXCITED when you
make progress. If you don’t, he tries something else. He is on your side every
step of the way. He has hope for you and gives you hope. And what I truly love
about him is that he also has helped me to change my outlook on so many things
related to how I am feeling, my body, how I deal with pain. He has helped me
see how I can improve my mental outlook, which in turn improves my physical
outlook. And I am just so much happier these days! I am finally having days
where I feel good! He says so many things during our sessions that just make so
much sense…just these little gems that make me pause and think. Whenever I
talk to Joe, I just always feel like everything in life is going to be OK. What
a great healing, calmness he brings to each session.
If you find that you are in chronic pain from injury or illness, I highly
recommend seeing Joe. I have gone from no hope and feeling so sad, to getting
back into my life, and finally having some good days. My pain is so dialed down
that I am back into my life. This is something I never thought would ever
happen and I can only imagine where things will go! I have only been seeing him
for a short time! Do yourself a favor and see Joe. You will save yourself time
and money and feel so much better in the end.

MFR is unlike any other treatment out there.
Joe Miller and MFR are by far the best therapy I have ever received. I noticed
considerable results after the first treatment.
I was referred to Joe for a persistent hip/groin injury that I had been dealing
with for over a year. Joe has been able to help me with this injury as well as
every other ache and pain that I have had since experiencing trauma and
injuries when I was a child. Over the last 35 years I have sought the help of
many health care professionals in many fields; chiropractor, orthopedic,
osteopath, naprapath, and physical therapists. It always ended with my being
told that I would just need to learn to live with the pain and discomfort. Then,
thankfully, I met Joe.
Joe is so easy to talk to and I felt at ease with him from the very beginning. It
is so true that MFR is unlike any other treatment out there. For the first
time, I feel like the core of my injures is being treated instead of a feeling
of band aids being applied. I highly recommend Joe Miller.

Results oriented
I really wish I didn’t have to finish paying my chiropractor bills from last
year, when seeing Joe a handful of times, has TOTALLY relieved many of my
chronic symptoms!
It’s so interesting (Barnes method) and results oriented with Joe, I HIGHLY
recommend him.

Genuine concern for my health
Joe was recommended to me by my sister, who is also a LCMT using MFR and other
treatment methods, as he is local to me and was known to her as an excellent
Myofascial Release therapist. I am being treated by Joe for an injury that had
become a chronic, somewhat debilitating pain in my hip that seemed like was
becoming permanent.
Joe has done wondrous work, as the condition really stems from years of
cycling and a completely sedentary job sitting at a computer. His knowledge of
the body and how it all works together is impressive, which supports his
genuine concern for my health and return to full function! Great progress made.
Joe has been able to work through that complex set of symptoms and side issues
that are scattered about to get to the central issues. When I mentioned that I
tried yoga but it proved to be too difficult, he recommended Tai Chi based on
my condition and how Tai Chi would support our work. It is perfect! Joe has
knowledge and experience in other areas of life and ties them all together to
provide valuable information, alternative views and very lively, varied
conversations! He is continuing to adjust my treatment to what is going on and
I am now fully confident that we will be 100% successful.
I value Joe both as a person and as a therapist.

Craniosacral Therapy for PTSD
After the first session with Joe I experienced physical as well as emotional
release immediately. Luckily for me, Joe was available by phone to help me
through this time. . . .
Joe has treated me with Myofascial Release and Craniosacral therapy for
emotional trauma (PTSD) as well as alignment and past injury issues.
I find his level of commitment to the patient’s healing overwhelmingly
sincere and altruistic. He is totally and selflessly motivated to helping his
patients.
